Barrett moved to Teresa? New York when he was 8 years old. he was
married to Catherine S., probably in New York. In 1864 they
moved to Granton, Michigan where Catherine died. They had three children. Hiram
married Azuba S. Matice in 1868 and together they had three more children.
Upon moving to Lowell, Hiram joined the Baptist church there and served as a
deacon for some time.

(6) She became a christian her early years and joined the Baptist
church. She was considered as a woman who always took a devoted interest in church
work and her bible was a sacred book to her. Children were:

He died on Aug 1 1929.(5) Hiram was
killed when his truck struck a tree on U.S. 131 and caught fire. Hiram spent
his youth in Lowell, Michigan. Following his father's second marriage, the family
moved to Kalamazoo, later in White Pigeon, Michigan and in 1909 made their home
in Knoxvill, Illinois. In 1923, he moved to Otsego.
For 24 years, Hiram was a successful traveling salesman. While in Knoxville,
he invented a tank heater for stock and formed the Barrett Tank Heater Co.
At Knoxville, Hiram served as a member of the board of education and was elected
as a city alderman for two terms.In Michigan, he was a member of the blue lodge
chapter, and council of the Mason fraternity at Knoxville.
Hiram was remembered as a genial, happy person and a great lover of children.
